Congratulations to the 12 best up-and-coming German Biologists!
Recently, in early February, 48 young biologists came to Kiel to partake at the Biology Olympiad in crash courses and seminars, to get to know each other as well as completing demanding practical tests in the most important fields of biology. However, the program was not all work and no play, because sufficient time was allotted to the participants to get to know each other in the course of the leisure time activities through their week in Kiel.
The 12 winners of the fourth selection round of the Biology Olympiad 2015 were ceremoniously presented with certificates to mark their achievements. Additionally, numerous prizes and trainee research positions were awarded to the winners at very diverse biological institutes, both at home and abroad. Needless to say, these internships were highly coveted. The four most successful candidates have qualified to participate in the next round of the European Natural Scientists’ Olympiad which will take place in early March in Potsdam. Moreover, three starting places for the German Brain Bee which is an annually organized neurosciences competition were also awarded to three of the junior scientists.
From the 12 participants in the final round of the Biology Olympiad four biologists will be selected for the German national team to travel to Aarhus, Denmark where they will participate in the 26th International Biology Olympiad.
