PISA turns Fifteen – Overview of the December 2015 Conference in Berlin

22. December 2015

A national symposium on PISA, the Programme for International Student Assessment (OECD) took place in Berlin in December 2015.

Since 2000 a survey has taken place every three years to determine how well adolescents in the participating countries are prepared for the challenges of the knowledge society. The study concentrates first and foremost on three competency domains: natural sciences, reading abilities and mathematics.

Findings also include information on the mentioned competencies in connection with social characteristics and cultural background as well as the school environment. Germany has been participating in these surveys since 2000. The findings have resulted in major changes in schools, politics and educational research.

The symposium focussed on key findings of the 2000 – 2012 PISA surveys as well as changes in the educational system that have resulted from the surveys.
