Profiling Maths Competencies at Upper Secondary Level
Several federal states have dropped the established course system at upper secondary level of offering pass and honours courses in favour of profiling and a general concentration on core subjects. Students choose content profiles at upper secondary level; however, they also have to cover core subjects such as German, mathematics and a foreign language until completion of their A’-levels. If such an orientation towards core subjects will secure standards is an open question. A contribution in the next journal Zeitschrift für Erziehungswissenschaft will endeavour to answer this question.
