In what context is personal information collected on our websites?

Firstly, your data is collected when you communicate it to us. This can for example be data that you enter in our contact form or in a registration form for an event. You use these forms on an expressly voluntary basis. We use and process the data that you enter here with your consent. Other data is automatically collected by our IT systems when you visit the website. This is, above all, technical data (e.g. browser, operating system, IP address of the accessing computer and time of site visit). This data is collected automatically at the time of website access. They are technically necessary to enable the website to be delivered to your computer. As an individual user you remain anonymous.

The session cookies used on our website are necessary to enable our online editors to edit page content. As a normal visitor to our pages, you can set your browser in such a way that the acceptance of these cookies is excluded without restricting the functionality of the website.

Privacy information for users of the Kiel University Cloud in context with the IPN.

The Kiel University cloud we use is a "Nextcloud" online file storage service hosted by Kiel University itself. All data is located in Germany and is subject to German and European data protection law. The service allows you to collaborate with other users. Therefore, the personal data (first name, last name and e-mail address) of the users is also visible to all other users of the service and, in the context of system maintenance, to some IT employees of Kiel University. The users include all employees, selected small groups from committees and work groups, as well as invited guests.

Not accessible contents
Many parts of this website are not yet completely accessible. We are working on making these sections accessible as well.

Separate pages describing navigation and content in plain language and sign language are not yet available, as a relaunch of the site and migration of existing content must first be implemented.

The editorial team strives to formulate texts on the IPN internet pages in a comprehensible way. However, it is not always possible to avoid technical terms. These are directed at the central target groups of the website.

Enforcement procedure
The complaints office pursuant to Section 12 LBGG has been established at the Schleswig-Holstein State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities. You may contact this office should you not be satisfied with the answers you receive from the above-mentioned contact. It is our goal to find a solution concerning problems collectively with the help of the complaints office and out of court.

The complaint procedure is free of charge. You do not need legal counsel.
