How does tolerance work? Interview with former German President Joachim Gauck

IPN Director Ilka Parchmann moderates discussion with former German President Joachim Gauck on the topic of tolerance.

Wednesday, November 10, 2021, Federal President (ret.) Dr. h.c. Joachim Gauck will visit the Kiel Research Center for Tolerance (KFT) at Kiel University (CAU). In a discussion with Professor Bernd Simon, director of the KFT, and Kiel theologian Professor Hartmut Rosenau in the evening, he will discuss what constitutes the essence of tolerance, where or how the boundaries of tolerance are to be drawn, and whether intolerance is a necessity.

The discussion will be moderated by Prof. Dr. Ilka Parchmann, IPN Deputy Managing Scientific Director and former CAU Vice President.

Due to the Corona virus, only a limited number of listeners will be able to participate in the event on site. However, the event can be followed via livestream (without registration).
