IPN Project on Vocational Orientation to be continued

EU Interreg Committee approves extension of German-Danish IPN project PANaMa

The work of the German-Danish project PANaMa (Perspectives on the Labor Market with Science and Mathematics) will continue beyond its original term thanks to further funding from the European Union's Interreg Program. The IPN-led project was able to convince the Interreg Committee with successful concepts for career orientation in science-mathematical school education, so that the Interreg Committee approved further funding until summer 2020 at its meeting on December 12th, 2018.

In the coming project phase, the PANaMa project will expand its focus on digitization in preparation for the working world 4.0. At the same time, the proven advanced training concepts for teachers will continue with future implementation in regional business enterprises. The Danish project partner at the Syddansk Universitet in Odense and the IPN will focus on robotics, coding theory and encryption techniques over the next 18 months. The Kieler Forschungswerkstatt and the Teknologiskolen in Odense, Denmark, will develop extracurricular learning opportunities that combine with regular school lessons for young people. In addition to the tried and tested concepts, these topics are another good option for career orientation in mathematics and science education at secondary level. The primary goal of the PANaMa project remains to inspire young people as future skilled workers for the labor market in the German-Danish border region. This occurs through an improved mediation of vocational perspectives in the region and an optimization of the competences necessary for the increasingly digital working world.
