Quickly Enabling Children and Adolescents from Ukraine to Attend Daycare and School: Statement by the Standing Scientific Commission of the KMK and the Expert Council on Integration and Migration

In a press statement issued today, the Standing Scientific Commission of the Conference of Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs (SWK) and the Expert Council on Integration and Migration call for enabling adolescents and children who have fled from Ukraine to Germany to attend educational institutions as soon as possible after their arrival. Attending daycare and school is an important step for the children and adolescents towards everyday life and normality.

The Standing Scientific Commission (SWK), chaired by Prof. Dr. Olaf Köller (IPN) and Prof. Dr. Felicitas Thiel (FU Berlin), is an independent scientific advisory body to the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs. Its members include 16 education researchers from various disciplines. The SWK advises the Länder on the further development of the education system. It identifies existing problems and makes evidence-based recommendations for their resolution.
