Rent-a-Scientist: Science in Schools - Registration Deadline 04.09.2022

August 22, 2022

An offer for all schools from elementary school to high school in the Kiel region: At Rent-a-Scientist, some 110 scientists from many different research fields visit school classes.

During the event week from September 26th - 30th, 2022, scientists will present their field of research as a teaching unit in an understandable and entertaining way. Rent-a-Scientist is part of the Festival of Science and is launching for the third time this year.

Teachers from the entire so-called KielRegion (state capital Kiel and the districts of Rendsburg-Eckernförde and Plön) can still apply for their classes until September 4th, 2022. The offer is free of charge for the schools.

At https://www.wissenschafftzukunft-kiel.de/festival-der-wissenschaft/rent-a-scientist.html, interested teachers can find the entire program with exciting offerings. Applications can be submitted for up to five topics. Feedback will be provided by September 12th, 2022 at the latest as to which classes will receive a visit from science and in which teaching modules.

Participants from the IPN include:

  • Dr. Karen Aldrup: How fear influences learning and what can be done about it.
  • Dr. Jennifer Meyer and Thorben Jansen: Fostering writing through artificial intelligence - is it possible?
  • Dr. Stefan Sorge: Good STEM teachers wanted - what makes for great teaching?
