The IPN at Kiel Week 2018

June 14th, 2018

Every year in Kiel the third week of June is Kiel Week. Originally a pure sailing event, Kiel Week has developed into a folk festival. Besides the sailing regattas there are also many concerts and other cultural events.

Thus, every year the university presents itself at the "kieler uni live", and the IPN and the Kieler Forschungswerkstatt, a joint institution of the Kiel University and the IPN, are also there again.

From June 16th – 24th, 2018, the motto is: look, marvel, join in. The program changes daily. Here is a selection:

Saturday, June 16th, 2018 to Monday, June 18th, 2018, from 12:00 to 6:00 p.m., participation experiments.

What will tomorrow's medicine look like? Analysis with contactless magnetic field sensors of heart, brain, and nerve activities is more precise than before, but such measurements still require considerable effort. The Kiel Collaborative Research Centre 1261 is working on the further development of corresponding technologies and materials. At the exhibition booth visitors can inform themselves about the operating principles of the developed sensors and the associated research.

Sunday, June 17th, 2018, 3:00 p.m.: Lecture for children - A voyage of discovery in the world of meta-organisms

Sunday, June 17th, 2018, 4:00 p.m.: Short lecture at the "Science Show" on evolution

Tuesday, June 19th, 2018, 12:00 to 6:00 p.m. and Saturday, June 23rd, 2018, 12:00 to 6:00 p.m.: hands-on experiments in the energy:laboratory of the Kieler Forschungswerkstatt.
