Knowledge Transfer
The Department of Subject-Related Knowledge Transfer was established at the IPN on 01.01.2021. The department is located in Berlin at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. The department is home to the German Centre for Mathematics Teacher Education (DZLM), which was initiated and funded by the Deutsche Telekom Stiftung from 2011 to 2021 and is now being continued together with the DZLM network.
The department is concerned with
- the research-based transfer of scientifically founded results of subject didactic research into mathematics and science education practice from kindergarten to the Abitur and with cross-subject and subject-related development and research work on the conditions for success, processes and effects of subject-related knowledge transfer.
- A decisive role is played here by the science-based, subject-related professionalisation of educational specialists in day-care centres and of teachers in primary, lower and upper secondary schools, especially through multipliers qualified for this purpose. One focus of the department is to develop and research subject-related qualifications for multipliers.
The department pursues the goal of developing comprehensive models of successful professionalisation as well as subject-related programmes for their concretisation and to investigate their long-term effectiveness on mathematics and science teaching and learning processes. The in-service training and qualification measures developed will be examined with regard to their suitability for nationwide application.
