The Nationwide Reading Day 2021 "IPN staff members read aloud in Kiel elementary schools"
Date: November 19th, 2021 Venue: Elementary schools in Kiel Start: 08:00 a.m.	Initiative by: DIE ZEIT, Stiftung Lesen and Deutsche Bahn Stiftung Theme: Every year on the third Friday in November, the nationwide Reading Aloud Day is a public signal for the importance of reading aloud. Nine IPN staff members participate in this day of action. They visit elementary school classes and read to children from STEM-related books. We support this initiative because studies show that children who are regularly read to have particularly good starting chances. They have a larger vocabulary at an early age, learn to read more easily and have better grades in many subjects at school. Education Policy Forum 2021 "Innovation and Prosperity through STEM"
Date: October 28th, 2021 Venue: virtual Start: 10:00 a.m.	Hosting organization: Leibniz Education Research Network Alliance (LERN) Theme: The Education Policy Forum 2021 of the Leibniz Education Research Network Alliance (LERN) is dedicated thematically to the challenges of future-oriented STEM education. Together with participants from education policy, practice and research, the connection between innovation and prosperity through STEM will be examined and discussed from different perspectives. Rent-a-Scientist: Science in Schools
Date: September 20th-24th, 2021 Venues: Kiel, Rendsburg-Eckernförde and Plön Time: 8:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.	Hosting organization: Kiel Region GmbH Theme: Under the motto "Wissenschaft macht Schule" ("Science in Schools"), scientists from all fields of research present their field of research in schools in the Kiel Region as an interesting lesson in an understandable and entertaining way. - The IPN is represented with several contributions on the topics of natural sciences and mathematics, technology and environment, energy and sustainability. Rent-a-Scientist is an accompanying event of the European Researchers' Night initiative under the EU umbrella. The event which is carried out within the framework of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions. Target audience: All interested teachers from schools in Kiel, Rendsburg-Eckernförde and Plön can apply for a Rent-a-Scientist school lesson. The offer is free of charge for schools. Online dialogue subject-related continuing education practice and continuing education research „Sustainable and coherent continuing education programs for the subject of mathematics through a joint cooperation between Federal States"
Date: September 1st, 2021 Venue: Online Time: 3:00 - 5:30 p.m.	Hosting organizations: › IPN and DZLM network Theme: Together with experts it will be discussed how sustainable and coherent continuing education programs for the subject mathematics can succeed in a collaboration of continuing education practice and continuing education research, especially across federal states. In addition, the role of the new department "Subject-related knowledge transfer" of the IPN with the DZLM network will be presented. 13th SH Summer University 2021 "Distance Teaching and Learning with Digital Media - Insights and Experiences"
Date: July 22nd-23rd, 2021 Online-Event	Organizers: The SH Summer University is an annual training event for school administrators and teachers organized by the IPN in cooperation with the CAU and the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture of the State of Schleswig-Holstein. Content: Digital teaching and learning and the associated challenges and opportunities for schools determine current discussions in society and in our education system. Especially in these pandemic times, digitization is a pillar of successful teaching. This topic will be the main focus of the conference and, in connection with this, will also address the issue of teaching and learning in the pandemic. "Awaken your curiosity - discover research!" Online event series for young people aged 14 and over
Date: 29th May, 05th June, 12th June, 2021 Time: 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Online event	Organizer: This series of events takes place as part of the MINT Academy in the network of student research centers. Content: Do you feel like tinkering? Would you like to actively shape your own future? Do you want to be at the cutting edge of research? Then you've come to the right place. Our series of events "Awaken your Curiosity - Discover Research" will give you an insight into current research taking place in Germany. Together with young scientists, we want to show you on three Saturdays which topics you can research yourself. Be there digitally and get talking!
