Bursting cherries: a task of the BMBF's International Biology Olympiad at MintMagic

June 8th, 2020

First raisins danced, then eggs floated, now cherries burst...

The national selection competition for the International Biology Olympiad, for which the IPN is responsible, has contributed a task for MintMagie of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). Previously, the national selection competition for the International Physics Olympiad (task: dancing raisins) and the national selection competition for the International Junior Science Olympiad (task: floating eggs) had already inspired people to think about and experiment at home.

"Mint at Home" is the motto of the MintMagic website, which offers exciting tasks and puzzles in mathematics, computer science, science and technology for schoolchildren. The International Biology Olympiad challenge is to investigate the phenomenon of bursting cherries in an experiment. Have fun with it!
