Experience the Children's and Students' University at Home: Videos of the Kiel Event Series Available Online

April 6th, 2020

Due to the current situation, the children's and student’s university unfortunately cannot currently take place in the large lecture hall of Kiel University. However, there is a great alternative for anyone interested. Lectures from previous years are available online on the websites of the Future Ocean Network. Students can click through the various semesters, lectures and video recordings under the "discover" menu tab.

Why does a boomerang come back? Is there life on other planets? Kebab in the Stone Age? Scientists have already given exciting lectures on these and many other questions in the children's and students' university. Now science is brought directly into your living room and the whole family can enjoy it together on the sofa.

Further information is available on the website of the Kiel Forschungswerkstatt.

The Children's and Students' University

The Cluster of Excellence "Future Ocean" launched the children's and students' university ten years ago to give an insight into everyday research. In October 2008, one of Germany's best-known climate researchers, Professor Mojib Latif from GEOMAR Helmholtz Center for Ocean Research Kiel, launched the first lecture series "Future Ocean" with his lecture "Why is it so wonderfully warm on Earth? Since then, around 20,000 students have attended the more than 50 lectures held so far.

The Kiel Forschungswerkstatt organizes the children's and students' university in collaboration with the Future Ocean. They are supported by the Leibniz Institute for Science and Mathematics Education (IPN) and Kiel University.
