IPN is awarded certificate for family friendliness

June 22nd, 2021

In March of this year, the IPN received the welcome news that the Institute's permanent certificate for family-friendly personnel policy had been confirmed by berufundfamilie Service GmbH. Today, the digital ceremony took place, where the certificate was awarded in the presence of the current Federal Minister for Family Affairs, Christine Lambrecht.

For many years, the IPN has endeavored to create structures that support the compatibility of family, job and career. As early as 2006, the IPN received the berufundfamilie Service GmbH certificate for its family-friendliness. Since then, the family-friendliness of the IPN has been reviewed every three years. Following temporary certificates stipulated by the process, the IPN received its permanent certificate on June 1, 2017, which is now confirmed.

In the past, the IPN has initiated many processes and established many measures that serve to reconcile family, work and career. For example, a daycare for five children under the age of three, the IPN-Sprotten, was established in August 2013. In addition to this "visible" facility, there is a whole range of supporting measures at the IPN that have led to a better compatibility of family, work and career and to a family-friendly culture at the institute. Among other things, this bundle of measures means that young researchers who become parents during their qualification phase can continue to pursue their qualification goal. The IPN can thus win over outstanding young researchers for the IPN with its family-friendliness.

The audit berufundfamilie is the main service offered by berufundfamilie Service GmbH and is based on an initiative of the non-profit Hertie Foundation. As a strategic management tool, the audit supports employers in sustainably shaping family- and life-phase-conscious HR policies as well as family-friendly working, research and study conditions. An independent board of trustees with representatives from business, science, politics and associations decides on the awarding or confirmation of the berufundfamilie audit certificate.
