School shapes the future - Impulses for a sustainable life

An Impulse Congress on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) will take place today, February 28, 2020. More than 500 students and teachers from all over Schleswig-Holstein will be coming to Kiel. A busy schedule awaits the students and their teachers from 8:30 to 4:30 pm. After the opening and a lecture by climate researcher Mojib Latif, the participants will exchange ideas in individual workshops. They can choose from 32 different activities. The workshops on the UN's 17 sustainability goals provide impetus for further work in schools or with extracurricular venues. A second round of workshops follows after the lunch break. All conference participants will gather again in the lecture hall at the end of the day.

The ESD conference is geared towards interested students from secondary schools in Schleswig-Holstein who want to make a difference in the field of sustainability as school delegates. A school delegation consists of five to ten members including a teacher.

The Impulse Congress is a joint event of the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture, the Ministry of Energy System Change, Agriculture, Environment, Nature and Documentation, Kiel University and the Leibniz Institute for Science and Mathematics Education (IPN).
